Silent strokes of the causes of memory impairment in the elderly
Revealed a recent medical study revealed an elderly between exposure every 4 elderly to what is known as the silent stroke, or death of brain cells, which in turn causes poor efficiency of the memory of many.
The researchers stressed that the contraction of the frontal cortex among the elderly may also play a role in increasing the severity of the problem, according to the newspaper, "Sunrise" in Egypt.
And conducted research on nearly 658 of the older healthy people who have crossed 65 years, to be subject to examination by brain MRI in addition to measuring the efficiency and level of memory.
And follow-up indicated that people who have been what is known as the silent strokes, and damage in the frontal cortex of the brain (one of the most important areas responsible for memory) were the most affected by the decline in the level of efficiency of the memory of elderly people compared with their peers who were not exposed to such phenomenon.
The silent strokes do not cause any noticeable symptoms and lead to the death of groups of brain cells may underlie the forgetting in the elderly.
