Australian scientists have advised teenagers to follow a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables to maintain their mental health and to avoid the incidence of mental illness.

The news agency said the Australian "AA B" that researchers from the University, "Deakin" conducted a study that included 3 thousand adolescents, showed that those who follow a diet based on fast food and food industry are more likely to suffer from problems related to mental health such as depression and anxiety.

Previous studies have shown an association between the quality of food and mental disorders.

Said researcher Phyllis Jaka said the study shows that it is possible to stop the emergence of some mental illness by ensuring that teenagers eat nutritious food.

Jaka and advised parents making sure their children that deals with two portions of fruit and 5 servings of vegetables a day and whole grains, meat, fat-free and stay away from junk food.
