British researchers found that eating food rich Allamcbah fatty acids known as Omega-3 enhances blood flow to the brain and improves performance during tasks that require mental concentration.
As is known, the health benefits of omega-3, which are found in fish, leafy vegetables and vegetable oils, are many.
The new research claims that Omega 3 can also improve reaction times, as well as reducing stress levels in the brain after performing arduous tasks.
The researchers say these findings may be of particular importance for the elderly, where the diet is rich in Bomega 3 provides the possibility of preventing dementia.
Two studies of omega-3:The researchers conducted two studies to investigate the effects of fish fat, the volunteers give the fish oil supplements rich in omega-3 fatty acid known as a shortcut to (DHA).
The results of the one that eating omega-3 supplements during mental tasks enhanced blood flow in the active areas of the brain.
Another study examined the effect of giving the complement of fish oil for a group of volunteers between the ages of 18 and 35 over three months.
The results showed a small difference in blood flow to the brain, but the reaction times were faster and fatigue levels were lower after administration of the brain important to supplement.
Long-lasting benefits:The researchers now want to conduct a study on people between the ages of fifty and seventy to learn how to deal with fish oil supplements that affect their memory and mental performance and blood flow to the brain.
Said study author Dr. Philippa Jackson said the findings could have implications for the mental function later in life, because the evidence suggests that eating fish fat regularly or taking supplements of omega-3 may prevent cognitive decline and dementia, and increased blood flow to the brain may be the mechanism by which this happens.
She added that, if possible, determine the behavioral effects and the effects of blood flow in the brain of this fatty acid in the elderly healthy, the benefits that would accrue to those who suffer from degenerative mental conditions associated with normal aging can be much larger.
