Despite the known health benefits of grains and legumes, many people tend to move away from it because of fears caused by the establishment of gas in the abdomen are excessive and embarrassing.
The report analyzed new flatulence and stomach distress, including changes in stool and bloating, and between people in the three studies that looked at the beans and the risk of heart disease.

People eat in two of these studies either half cup of pinto beans, black-eyed peas, or cooked cereal every day for eight weeks. The second group ate canned carrots a day.
In the third study, participants take part of the half cup of pinto beans and the other part dealt with the soup for 12 weeks.
Less than half of the participants that the gases have increased when eating pinto beans, or cooked cereal during the first week, and 19% had increased flatulence when eating black-eyed peas during the first week. She stated that about 3% to 11% of the participants increased their flatulence during the study period, even if they eat carrots, not beans.
"You can make people realize that the increase in food grains may lead to more of the gases in the beginning", but may be people's fears about excessive flatulence of grain exaggerated. "
Benefits of grains and legumes:
The new Dietary Guidelines urges to eat legumes several times a week, because they are rich in fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals.
In each of these three studies, there was a significant decrease in the ratio of total cholesterol and bad LDL, and high blood cholesterol is a significant risk factor for heart disease and stroke.
"Increased consumption of soy is a convenient and inexpensive way to increase the amount of vegetables, and the swelling of the abdomen is to be temporary and to convince consumers to add more grain to their diet."
The researchers suggest that you start taking small amounts of the different types of grain to see if there are any differences in the occurrence of another in causing swelling of the abdomen, and thus determine the types of grains that cause flatulence in a few.

Beans are rich in fiber and carbohydrates resistant to digestion. These starches are not digested by enzymes that are found in the gastrointestinal tract alone, it can be broken down through a process called bacterial fermentation in the intestine.
